Drive for Lee’s Friends

Volunteers drive cancer patients to and from their cancer-related medical appointments and treatments. For patients and volunteers alike, each trip becomes more than a car ride; it becomes an opportunity to connect.

Our Transportation Program runs Monday through Friday for patients living and receiving treatment in South Hampton Roads. We can accommodate appointments as early as 9:00 a.m. and as late as 2:00 p.m., with return transportation provided for all rides. Driving schedules and routes vary depending on each patient’s needs.

Coordinate Rides for Patients

Volunteers help coordinate rides for cancer patients needing transportation to and from their cancer-related appointments. Working from our office, these volunteers answer the phone, respond to inquiries, and may assist with other administrative tasks. This shift is from 9:30am until 1:00pm, Monday through Friday, with one or two days available per week. 

Provide Emotional Support

Volunteers assist with patient outreach and check-ins, cards acknowledging holidays or birthdays, and other gestures of support that let cancer patients know they are not alone. Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with flexible volunteer hours available.

Be a Lee’s Friends Ambassador

Lee’s Friends Ambassadors represent Lee’s Friends at community health fairs and events, and assist with our fundraising events during the year. The time commitment varies based on the opportunity, but most events last just a few hours.
